IE7 is coming. But who cares? This company has given a sh*t on standards for the last 10 years, now all of us are supposed to fix our websites again just because they finally found out that there is a certain sense in standard-compliance? I don’t think so. On my website there is one single piece of special treatment for the old IE because it had a screwed box model – and frankly, I am excited how screwed it will look now that IE is going to be standard compliant 
The only good thing I see in the release of the new IE version is that the threat of self-spreading trojans will be mitigated to a certain extent. But to what extent only future will show …
Yet so many people will continue to use IE5 or IE6 and make it a horribly complex exercise for web designers to cater all flavors of IE and have the site look somewhat similar in all cases. Well, anyone who has cared for standard-compliance in the past has certainly found out about the additional level of complexity introduced thanks to the non-compliance of the old IE versions …

PS: I am not at all someone who likes MS bashing. In fact I like some of their OSes very much, but the reluctance to stick to standards has created a hell for web designers and it is not MS who is going to pay for their mistakes in the past …

Well… if Firefox are gonna start leaving out innovative features in 2.0 – that they had introduced in 1.5, I guess some people will start looking at IE as the best alternative… (people that value dog shit more highly than computer security that is) 😉
Well, there are more browsers than IE and Firefox. Even if many people (even those using IE) complain that it is not OpenSource: Opera would be one more alternative and actually the one I am using for several years already. What I would like to have in Opera would be the ability to open IE tabs – one FF extension allows this. This would then allow for the best possible compatibility even for those sites that claim they are not compatible with Opera.
But I wonder what the MS site will look like, now that MS is going to release IE7?! Maybe some special quirk-mode for their own domain?

btw, what did you find out about the problem with the IE7 and your homepage? There was no visible difference, afair, but you said it’s because of your browser switch or whatever. Did you test it without? What does it look like?
Going to test it once IE7 is released and installed on my machine. In this case I’ll remove the browser switch.
